Verulamium Park
100 acres of beautiful parkland close to the city centre and is a popular attraction throughout the year with wide range of facilities. The Park is named after the Roman City of Verulamium on which it stands. The City walls and outline of the London Gate can still be seen. Verulamium Museum displays hundreds of remarkable objects that have been excavated from the ground.

The Abbey Line Trail is a walk commissioned by the Abbey Community Rail Partnership and delivered by Countryside Management Hertfordshire. This is a nine mile walk from Watford Junction Station to St Albans Abbey Station. The walk can be completed in sections allowing you to use the train to return to your start point.
PLEASE NOTE: Sections of the trail can become waterlogged after periods of heavy rain - sometimes without obvious alternative routes. Please go prepared for this eventuality.
Abbey Line Days Out
Abbey Line Days Out! is an initiative aimed at encouraging the local community to travel to local events and attractions using the Abbey line train services. We aim to support local tourism, sustainable travel and local businesses. In addition, Hertfordshire is a beautiful countryside waiting to be explored. there are a host of walking and cycling routes including our Abbey line trail commissioned in 2015, which goes along the train route. We’ve added a wealth of information including locals’ favourites and travel planning information to help you make the most of your trip and day out. Including a Days out leaflet and video. So get exploring and see ‘what’s on at the end of the train line’.
