The Abbey Line Trail is a walk commissioned by the Abbey Community Rail Partnership and delivered by Countryside Management Hertfordshire. This is a nine mile walk from Watford Junction Station to St Albans Abbey Station. The walk can be completed in sections allowing you to use the train to return to your start point.
PLEASE NOTE: Sections of the trail can become waterlogged after periods of heavy rain - sometimes without obvious alternative routes. Please go prepared for this eventuality.
There is a walk for everyone from a short stroll, to a medium walk or a longer distance if you wish to complete the nine miles. You can make up any combination as the walks are way marked both from and to the stations. The walks take in the beautiful Ver and Colne Valleys.
