Kingsway Junior School children enjoy a wildlife workshop
3 June 2025
With help from Wilder Watford
We love doing our bit to help wildlife along the Abbey Line route – at our stations and through our work with local communities.
Children from the UNICEF Rights Respecting groupat Kingsway Junior School took part in a wildlife workshop this week at Garston Station Wildlife Garden.
Following on from their classroom workshop, they helped create habitats for the creatures they had researched and learnt more about woodland wildlife!
Amy from Wilder Watford led a bug-identification session and gave us more tips to make the garden even more welcoming to wildlife.
The bug hotel was filled with natural materials for creepy-crawlies to shelter in, and by the end of our session, some had already moved in!
The children decorated a paper leaf to ‘Leaf a Promise’ – pledging to do something to help nature or the environment and also helped put up bird feeders.
We all had a wonderful, inspiring time and are keen to get more school / youth groups involved!
