4th St Albans Scouts ended their fun Spring term with that old favourite – The Chippy Hike!
But this year, with a difference – a short-trip home on the Abbey Line!
Scouts, leaders and parent-helpers (more of them than usual…) hiked the 2 miles from St Albans to Park Street along the Alban Way, on pathways across fields and down well-lit roads as the light faded.
After a rewarding tray of chips from the local chippy, they bought their tickets from Park Street Station and travelled home in style.
They may not have made a dent in the ticket numbers at Park Street (the least-used station in Hertfordshire) but we hope they have come away knowing a bit more about rail safety, sustainable travel, and about the amazing network of Rail Walks that exist in the UK – including our very ownAbbey Line Trail.
