Community Rail Week 2025

25 May 2025

Showcasing our year-round events and activities

We’ve had an amazing Community Rail Week this year – showcasing our year-round events and activities and also celebrating Railway200!

We kicked off the week at Bricket Wood Station, displaying art work from St Albans’ Visual Arts Festival – celebrating local artists and local tourism. We’ve really upped our game this year on displaying art work up and down the line – and are aiming for more. We’ve had lots of compliments and engagement. Watch this space!

Many thanks to Collective Art for co-ordinating the festival and to Bricket Wood Station Heritage Trust for their kind permissions to display in their poster cases at the award-winning Station Restoration Project – well worth a visit to the Tea Room that’s been created there.
The Tea Room is open Wed-Sat. Check opening times on their website.

Next stop Watford Junction, as we build awareness of the Abbey Line and connect communities with their railway.

St Albans is just 16 minutes away on our local branch line – a smooth ride, avoiding congestion and parking woes.

Beautiful walks are easily accessible from Abbey Line stations too, providing the opportunity to connect with nature, car-free.

Thanks to Cllr Ian Stotesbury for stopping by and to our team of volunteers and steering group members, helping us spread the word about our work.

Also big thanks to London Northwestern Railway staff, Upper Crust and Costa Coffee Watford Junction Station for their generous hospitality!
